OK, so I sold the guts to my 7.25. Axles are out, cover is off, caps are off.
How do you get the carrier out of the housing? I was told it would fall out.
This thing is definately not falling out. Do I need to remove the yoke first?

may need a case spreader like the old dana's... im assuming it uses shims to the correct backlash?

Me thinks you need to back off on the carrier adjusters,...with the caps off, try and back off the adjusters by hand,...we used to have a tool in the dealership for this...Slide em in thru the axle tubes and back em off...

Bearings have adjusters on them.Should be a hole at the axle tube, reach in there with a heavy screwdriver and unscrew the adjuster and the center will fall out

805moparkid. I was going by his wording

" How do you get the carrier out of the housing? I was told it would fall out "
This thing is definately not falling out

It has been along time since I fooled with one, but you have to about a 1 1/8" O.D. nut welded on a piece of tubing and go thru axle tube to take the pre-load off the carrier.
Check the FSM that is availabe on this site to be sure.

This is no carrier in a 7.25
Did you mean "there is no carrier"?

Ok..... trying to remove the differential out of the housing. Better? :-D

805moparkid, it's definately a 7.25.

Thanks for the input fellas, I appreciate it!
I'll be back at this tomorrow.

I had one I couldn't get out to save my @@@. I had another one and was able to take a bar and pry it out.

Mission accomplished! I had to tap on the threaded rings with a hole punch and careful blows with a hammer (loosen the end play) and it came right out.

Now I have to remove the pinion nut - yeah I have the tool to bolt to the yoke, but this thing is tight beyond belief! :banghead:
