Hello!

I figured I would finally start a restoration page for my 1970 Dart Swinger 340. It has the matching numbers motor, rally dash with tach, bucket seats and centre console, power breaks and steering, and a few other goodies. It was originally F8 green but I think it's going to be go mango orange once we get around to painting it.

We got the car about 7 years ago from Michigan, got the car disassembled, replaced the whole trunk and cut out a lot of the rust and then it sat for about 5 years due to other priorities. I finally got tired of it collecting dust at my dad's house and took it to my place to continue working on it.

I'm look forward to making some serious progress on it this summer with the help of everyone here on FABO.

Cheers!

NICE!!! I love 340 Darts ... looks like you had a solid foundation.... glad you're managing to keep a numbers-matching car on the road and bring it back to glory!

Looks like you have a pretty solid car there to work with. Good luck and I'm looking forward to watching your progression. L8r

NICE I miss my 340 70 Dart! Mine to was numbers matching and also went to Canada LOL

Mine had power brakes, Kelsey Hayes discs, power steering, A/C, A727, black interior, factory tach, Plum Crazy Purple, rear defrost

still have a driver side door and a factory functional hood for it (has holes for scoops and large holes for fresh air)

@70DartMike

I would love to make it factory correct but I don't think I could stand driving it in the f8 dark metallic green with the rear stripe delete option. I haven't totally ruled it out though...

i love the ef8 green to many awesome cars get covered in lime greens, plumpurples, hemi hues but again its your ride and by the looks of it . it should be spectaular mines going to be ef8 green with a ff4 top (VO2 two tone) ledger green tail stripe with the black out hood and go-wing

Well I have alot of time for the green to grow on me :glasses7:

Glad to see the quarters replace really bugssssssssss me to see them cut for bigger tires, also I saw no throttle pressure linkage there what up.Manual shift?

Looking good.. love to see it in person some day..

It's funny about green. Back in the day it was sooo popular I kinda hated on it. Now, it is so uncommon on newer vehicles I like it again! I'm sure you'll change your mind a few times before you end up buying the paint, so until then..

Grant

I also have a 70 Dart Swiger - Looks like your car is very solid and good foundation. My restoration took 5 years and after a couple two steps forward and one step back issues; but that is just part of the process. I kept mine factory looking but with a mild 4" stoker motor.

Good luck and keep posting the build.

I thought the same thing when I got my 70 Dart Swinger 340. It was originally two tone F4 green body and F8 green top with a two tone green interior! Thought it would be too much green, but now that I have a few of the parts painted those colors, it has really grown on me. Helps that my wife, who is very supportive of my projects, has green as her favorite color. (Might have something to do with her maiden name being 'Greenwood'?!)Ben.

It's been a very slow winter on the restoration front. It's way too cold to do anything outside so I have just been working on the dash in my basement. I ordered a new dash bezel and switched everything over from the old one last night.

My neighbour runs an upholstery shop out of his garage so he recovered my front seats, and will also do the rears, headliner and carpet install in return for putting new rockers on his cherokee. He said all the wrinkles will come out once they sit in the sun for a while. Seat covers are from Legendary.

I ran a bunch of ground wires on the back of the dash and soldiered on a wire to the circuit board to replace a broken pin. Hopefully it works, otherwise I'll be shelling out 125 for a new board.:banghead:

Over the last few weeks I got the driver side floor pan in, and fitted the driver side wheel house and trunk extension. I wish I could afford to buy new amd panels for the whole car. They fit perfectly.

Nice start. Like others here, love the Darts. They look fast just sitting there! Along with the burble from the exhaust, auto love.

hemiorange,
Could you post some pix showing more detail of where you welded in the front (jamb) and rocker edges of your quarter skin? I am looking for alternative ideas to what I did on the pass. side now that I am on the driver side. Thanks. L8r
