Florida?

Hey fellow Mopar Brothers!
I have a chance to move to Florida. I have been in Pa. all my life. So I am a bit nervous, okay, maybe a lot!
This would be in Stuart, or surrounding area. I was needing some input?
I am 48 years old, and burned out with pa.
My friend moved there two years ago, and loves it.
He said it is cheaper to live there?? Ummm. That sounds odd! But anyhow, just wanted to get some input.
I work on the internet, so I can live anywhere.
My wife would need to find work.
Up here, she has a self made cleaning business. I don't know what her success would be on Florida with something like that. just some input, would be appreciated! He told me the cleaning business is great down there. Thanks!

Can you go down there for a couple weeks and check it out first?

I'm about an hour north of Tampa. Originally from Jersey Shore (Cape may) . I Not duplicate my house up their or even close to what I pay. I just got my tax bill and it is $551 for the Year if I pay it by the Th of November. I'm on a 1/2 acre pretty well wooded lot 1700 square ft home. I don't think your wife would have a problem Their is a lot of elderly to clean for. Only down fall Insurance on Homes is a little High. You can cruise all year If you can stand the summer months.

I live on the dividing line for Plant City and Valrico about an hour north of tampa. Its nice to live down here and many local shows to go to. And as previously stated the weather is always good for cruisin.

I live just south of Stuart in Juno Beach. You need to take a road trip and check it out. Beautiful weather right now... 68*am and 75-8* during the day with the sun shining.

I dont think youd be disappointed and there are still some good deals on homes.

Theres a cool Car Show In Melbourne (1 1/2hr north of Stuart) I believe Jan 19. Check out www.MoparsOfBrevard.com. Might be a good time to come.

If you already have a job, then that's a good thing.
Jobs were REAL easy to get when I moved down from Ohio in 88.
Not so much now.
Cost of living was actually about the same for me even though I moved from near a major population center to a kinda sticks location.

I sure do miss basements though!

...and sidewalks/curbs.

But I DON"T miss the cold!

You might be in culture shock for a while.
It IS different, but it's not all hardcore "the South" like GA, SC, AL, etc.
(although there are pockets)

In 88, the hot rod thing down here was kinda sketchy, but it's kinda grown since then.

Up North, we all had dirt bikes as kids and cars by 15.

Down here it's more a 4x4 mud thing.

I was born in CA, so I try to skirt the whole Nort/South thing with that by claiming "mutt" Sometimes transplants do get that.


...and it IS car show season right now.
