Anyone ever use the SSCB Frt Drum to Disc A 153 conversion Kit??? if so, any surprises I should expect....They say "Everything" is there to just bolt on...
no other parts needed....thanks, John

I have a 66 dart gt w/ 10" drum brakes

I got them on my '65 barracuda, Pretty easy bolt-on project. The only thing other than brake fluid I had to buy was a couple longer brake lines. The hardest part was plumbing in the brake lines, not much room in these early A bodies.

Will be installing that kit in the next week or so on my 64 dart.I have used SSBC on several B&E bodies without a problem. This will be the first early A install but basicly the same.

What I liked about the SSBC kit on my 65 signet is that I could retain my small boldt pattern rallyes- but later might switch to BBP-

I see a Stage One kit in the Summit catalogue for SSBC brakes. My application would be for a 68 Barracuda. It came with 9 inch drums. Anyway, when I go to the SSBC website, I don't see that exact designation, Stage 1, and, if I'm not mistaken, it says the brake drums have to be at least 10.5" for this conversion. As noted, mine is probably a 9". I would like to keep the 14" wheel size but the 4.5" inch bolt pattern is fine. Can anyone tell me for certain which brake conversion kit I should go with to have 4 wheel discs, and keep the 14" wheel size. I am so confused by all the adds in the catalogues and on line.

I did the 153w at the wheels conversion on my 67 dart. I thought the directions could be better as they send you combined "A" and "B" body instruction sheets. They were a little vague on caliper mounting direction as they can be different for the 2 body species. No problem if you have an idea on where they should be. The spindle/wheel bearing nuts they sent me were the wrong size but no big deal, I just used my old ones.
They have a help line if you get into any trouble or have questions on the install or with purchasing options.
I had 10" drums and I believe the kit states you must have 10" in order to use it. It also says you must use 14" wheels or larger but I'm not so sure anyone would run the stocker 13's after the conversion.
I love the feel and am very happy with them.
The kit looks to basically be a mustang fit-up.
Good luck.
