landline telephone question

-
Landline phones...ah, memories. Like others, I haven't had one in about 10yrs now. Don't miss it and honestly was getting expensive for what it was. Cell works fine when power goes out but I imagine it could go down easy enough if the outage was in the right place. Around here though power outages are mainly due to downed trees, in that respect it normally takes the phone lines with it.

I still have a land line, I use it for faxes and data. I use a high speed DSL, because in the 26 years I've lived in this house, I've lost my cable connection scores of times, but have only lost my phone line twice.

I do have an iPhone, too, though which is my main source of communications. It is a listed phone number, too since I used my cell for business. Many times, when I don't wish to be bothered, I purposely leave my iPhone in my truck. If the kids or other family members need me, they know to either call my wife's phone, or my home phone.
