Long story short, I ordered a Comp Mutha Thumpr last night for the 360. I was comparing Comps spring recco vs the Trick Flow springs I already installed on the heads. Comps p/n 995-1 specs are 1.437 outside diameter, coil bind at 1.02, 402lbs/inch The new Trick Flows I have are 1.495 outside diameter, coil bind at 1.1 with a spring rate of 355lbs/inch. Can I get away with these? Input appreciated in advance!!! Thanks Nate

Gonna run Crane Gold !.6 rockers with these btw. If my math was correct that bumps the intake lift to .530 intake and .515 on the exhaust from .497 and .483 @ 1.5

360 details so far--596 smogger heads home ported with new Ferrea 2.02 and 1.60 valves. Balanced stock crank with Eagle H-beams and KB107's, B&M sfi Flexplate and new Powerforce balancer. Melling HV oil pump, ARP main bolts. Comp Mutha Thumpr cam, Comp ball and cup pushrods, Crane Gold 1.6 roller rockers. Trick Flow springs, Comp keepers, Mopar Perf retainers. Cloyes double roller timing set. Mr. Gasket .028 head gaskets......the usual garden variety small block!!

Your getting into the spring retainer to valve guide interference zone on LA heads and 1.6 rockers with that kind of lift. Don't know about the springs.

Also looking at pushrod clearance problems also with 1.6 on those heads. Just check all clearances and with crane aluminum rockers you will need to check valve retainer clearances too. I just went through this and finally went with comp cams steel roller tip rockers and they work perfectly.

thanks guys. the machine shop machined the guides down to avoid the interference issue. Hoping cam and gaskets come in tomorrow so I can mock up and measure. Really hoping the rockers clear the retainers if not I guess beehives or a nice set of Comps like yours!! Ill look hard at the push rod clearance too. I'm not scared to break out the die grinder if need be. Thanks for the watch outs.

You may lose control of your valve spring earlier with those 1.6 rockers. That's a factor you should take notice of.

So far I'm clearing everything on the mock up. I'm a little tight on the pushrods so Ill do some clearancing when I pull it back apart. Springs clear the rockers but they are close. Bakerlite, I was thinking the same thing. I'm going to go ahead and break in the cam with these springs then swap to the stronger ones. No need to cheap out now!!! Thanks for the input guys.

Update on valvesprings: The Trickflow springs I had coil bind @ 1.1". With the installed height of 1.65 and intake lobe lift @ .3310 x 1.6 Crane Gold rockers left only .0204 coil clearance. Bought the Comp 995-16 dual springs with 1.05 coil bind per Comp. Now I have .0704 clearance. .060 is minimum (comp)
