Gasket for filler tube on 68 Cuda

Is the only thing between the fuel filler tube inside the trunk compartment and the quarter panel where its butts up to, a white squishy foam gasket? as pictured on another car.

I remember thinking the same thing when I put a new tank in - I think I don't even have the gasket on mine but I probably should put one in :)

make one ! some shipping mat`l is exactly the same thing.
