I need to find out who makes these front covers. I have looked through my books and come up short. Valiant guys I an needing some help. I know a lot of you guys have connections I don't. This is my first Valiant build. Thanks, Bill

Have you tried Legendary? They have some pretty accurate stuff. I found my covers through them, which I didn't think I'd be able to find.

for that perhaps check with the co. that sells vintage seat material. have shop custom make them. I forget their name, they been in business decades.

go to legendary. Don't assume that because you don't see it in their catalog that they don't have it or can't make it. When I couldn't find a replacement for seats in my Dart they had me take the old covers off and ship then to them and they made a new set and now offer them to others

str12-340, I am glad to hear that because the problem I would have is that this is a 4 door and all I saw was for split bench seats. also, my interior guy I deal with happens to be a Mopar guy and he may be able to get things I cant find. I will probably take the front seat out next week and run it by his place and see what he can do but I wanted to find someplace that may have had this first.

SMS out of Oregon would be the place to find the material, and they do when do with legendary in supplying OE material for seat covers that aren't being reproduced! I would try them!! Geof

thanks Geof. I am sure my interior guy would know that. if not I can tell him where to check. I would hate to have to have both the front and back recovered just to match. someone should have this as it was pretty popular in 69 cars. I believe my 69 Swinger had the same seat covers on it.

update on the seat covers. I took the seat out and took it to my upholstery guy and he told me upfront that it is going to be hard. He is a Mopar guy also with 2 award winning 1970 Challengers so I know he is on the up and up. He called Tony at Legendary right there when I was looking at him and right off the bat Tony told him not a chance. Because it is a Valiant and a 4 Door bench seat, I am pretty much out of luck. The next thing is he is going to call SMS when they opened today. may have to send a sample of the cover to them so they can maybe duplicate the pattern. They will send it back to make sure it is what we want. If all that fails, we picked out a different pattern and I am going to have the front and rear seat totally re-done with all new fabric. will post pics when it is finished. may be end of March.

My 67 Signet with factory buckets uses the same covers as 67 cuda and dart with 1 minor strip of difference which can be sewed in. The pattern in your car is very basic.

Find the Detroit # for your original upholstery . Resto shops have the Detroit book. Molar assigned codes for each type and color.once you have this# you can order from SMS the correct vinyl . Although matching 40 yr old front to rear is likely not possible.i tried and had to do both. shame too as I only needed small patch on drivers seat! Good luck! You should be able to get but may take some time as they do not make small runs.

where do I find the Detroit # on the upholstery. I am working with Original Auto also. I sent them photo's of the seats. not heard back. I am still working on finding the original. Thanks

Here's a local guy near me that I've used. He's been around for years and can do anything. He makes interiors from scratch for cars and boats. I've seen a boat interior that he did custom and it was real nice.

He also put the Legendary covers and foam on my son's 72 Challenger seats, and they turned out real nice.

He has many different materials to work with and may be able to match something that you have.

I think it is stamped on the backside of your original material or may be on a cardboard tag.

Well my upholstery guy called me yesterday and told me that SMS out in Oregon called him back and they have the same original seat material that is in my Valiant. So I guess I am going back with what came in it from the factory. That's good as it is going to save me a lot of money.

I have the exact same material in my Dart which had similar splits in the vinyl.

I found a good rear seat back and took it to an upholstery shop where they used the material from the seat back and stitched to good gray material onto the black portion.

You could never tell it was restitched, and looks totally original.
