Hey!
About a year and a half ago, I listened to my instinct and bought a 1970 Plymouth Duster. Not knowing much about it, I totally underestimated what a project it truly is.
I again ran into a problem. My Duster is a 225 slant 6. With that said, I have been very unlucky. My bolt pattern is in the way. (5 - 4")... I've been given different solutions and I don't know which one would be best. 1.) Front drums to disc conversion and drill rear... 2.) Find an adapter... 3.) Find barracuda plating part with the more popular pattern 5 - 4 1/2.....WHAT DO I DO???

Find a donor car for the parts you need, 74 -76 dart or duster. Other parts will work but you will need more research. I used 88 Grand Fury front brakes. Tube type upper control arms. Rear diff out of an 75 Dart.

The 5x4" bolt circle is in the way of what? What do you mean: "I have been very unlucky. My bolt pattern is in the way. (5 - 4")..." ?

He's pining for some cool wheels probably.

Do the 73 up conversion if you want the cheapest way to get 4.5" and better braking up front.
DO NOT ORDER WHEELS UNTIL YOU HAVE MADE THE CONVERSION AND CAN MEASURE FOR BACKSPACE. The conversion will increase your track width by about 5/8" on each side so wheels that may work with the drums may not work with the disk.

Don't know what rear end you have but drilling axles is definitely the less expensive way to change the rear bolt pattern. Keep in mind you have to drill the drums as well. Option 2 is to get an 8-3/4 rear end with 4.5" bp but that may blow your budget. If your thinking about converting to a V8 later than the rear end swap is a must. IMO of course.

Doing homework on this matter will be helpful and there are many threads here on brake swaps, rear end swaps, etc.

If you just want cool wheels then Boyds or Coys or many others have 4" bp wheels available. You just have to call them and talk to them about your car. I know they exist as my buddy has sweet 17" Boyds on his 4" bp cuda and had 17" Coys on before that.
Good luck.

I have E-T (Team III) wheels on my '69 Dart with the 5x4" bolt pattern. Besides the wheels mentioned above, Cragar S/S come in 5x4" too.
