On my 72 Demon 340 it looks like I'm going be bringing it home from Paint Prison in a few weeks. I was just curious on how you care for the "Matte Black" that they use on the center part of the hood and scoops. I'm told I should not wax it so is there anything to use to protect it? Any polish or special cleaner ect.

Thanks
Tom

diymirage, I called it matte black but it may be satin black, It's called Hot Rod Black.

Bad sport, thanks for the heads up on this.

I wasn't trying to be nitpicky about the name of the hue at all, I was just trying to be funny by making a play on words, guess it was only funny in my head

(FWIW, I do love the black hood treatment that was used on the sizzlers)

Thanks All, I'm going to try the Dr. Beasleys and see how it goes.
diymirage, it was funny when I thought about it. Not as fast as I used to be. lol

I heard some people say they use PLEDGE but I never wanted to use it. I bought Jax Wax and used it and it works great and doesn't distort the matte black stripes. Hell, if you read the bottle it says you can use it on the glass. It is a carnauba liquid wax.

I got it right away:D

-it reminded me of this exchange from A Trip To Italy:
"Where do you stand on Michael Buble?"
"preferably on the throat".

Turtle wax ice spray or surf city spray detailer has always worked for me. Hot rod black is pretty good stuff for the price. Bit shinier than matte but it looks good

+1

The Turtle Wax Ice is great for semi-gloss black paint. It works on rubber & vinyl too.
