Well I'm getting worse....

I recently purchased another A body from a fellow forum member. As my dart was proving to be a bit more then I could handle right now, I decided to find something that I could drive around and put the dart under the knife.

So Sally comes into play, a 1974 Duster, always have loved the body style. Sporting a 318 with a bit of work done to it, 904 trans, 8.25 with 3.23 posi. She's a blast to drive and gets a lots of looks!

No hard core plans as of right now, sides drive and think about a few things that I might want.

Nothing wrong with just ONE MORE A-Body!!!!!

My brother had a 74 Dart Sport back in the day and my first car was a 72 Duster!! I like the body style also.

Reminds me of when someone asked John D Rockefeller how much money he needed. His reply..."just a little bit more"

The color is frosty green, which was only a 2 year color if Im correct, 74-75. I believe it's the original color for the car.

The 318 has been punches out 30 over, has a small cam in it as well as 340 exhaust manifolds, has an aluminum 4 barrel Eddy intake with a 600 cfm Eddy carb. It's a peppy little engine but I've been wanting more.

I have been leaning towards the idea of a swap, maybe a 360. 4bbl carb with a set of J style heads, swap the 340 exhaust manifolds over, add a nicer cam then my upgraded pistons. I figure that would give it a bit more fun factor.

Very nice Indeed !! That color does look great on that car.

Okay so after a few days of driving it none stop, I have a few things I'd like to do to the car.

First it has the original style bench seat, I like benches just fine but you hit the floor when you sit on it. So either needs rebuilt or just replace it. I have no idea how much a rebuild is, so I started looking at maybe doing buckets. The A body buckets are a bit harder to find around so I was thinking maybe the ProCar low back buckets or maybe so late 90's jeep wrangler seats, they look a lot like A body buckets. I just have never seen anyone try them yet.

With seats being charged or recovered. I wanna swap the interior to black then do white seats. I like that will go along with the white stripes. Also won't burn the hair off the back of my legs hahaha. With changing the color over, one of the owner cut the dash to fit in a modern radio but just used the the two rear deck speakers. So I will get new kick panels with the speaker holes already in them.

I discuss the engine build earlier. But I want to do a 360 build, when I bought this car I received a cam/lifter set with it, I'm sure it will be good for a mild build. I have an extra aluminum intake and 600cfm carb that I can throw on it. So its down to finding the block, having the machine work down, picking out he rotating assembly then heads.

I was also looking at upgraded headlights, maybe a more modern bulb. The stock high beams are about as good as my jeeps Lowe beams.

Brakes are on the list as well. I wanna do he Dr. Diff front rotors the 11.75 then add there upgraded calipers. Then do the conversation to the rear for disc brakes.

So basically my idea is more to the restomod but I want the body to stay all original or as much as I can. Just upgrade a few things just to make it that much better.

Thanks!

Went for a later cruise after work the other day and meet some friends for dinner.

Other photo is of the local car meet around the court house every Saturday. Pretty sweet little meet. Lots of looks and one of a few mopars.

Nice to actually have a dependable driver.
Are you going to sell the other one?

I'm tempted. Not sure yet Sirland67. If I did it would be to build this one up. I have honestly thought about keeping this one the way it is then just keep saving and drop the money on the dart. Im not sure yet

So washed and waxed her today. I'm getting better at the waxing. Also polished up all the chrome, it was looking old and spotty. So was the cheap repo tuff wheel, it used a little mothers and bam looks tons better. Also found a lottery ticket when cleaning out the back seat. Then just some fun shots.

What can you tell us about those wheels and tires? They look great too!

Cley

The are Vision torque 143's. The rear's are 18x9.5 with 255-40-18's and the front's are 18x8.5 with 225-45-18's and the tires Nitto Invo's. It's a pretty good combo. Thanks Cley!
