I've been thinking about possibly putting a 440 in my '69 dart. The hardest part, from what I've read, seems to be getting the headers to fit. Would Schumacher headers or TTI headers fit better? Are there any other brands? I dont think I want fenderwells because I want a sleeper look. What are herb McCanndels headers? How did they fit the 440 in a dart from the factory? All inputs and opinions are welcomed.

The RB 440 is a tight fit for headers in an A body. The Low deck is some what easier to fit headers on. TTI makes a set and the 2" B-body TTI will work with a low deck. The Herb McCandless headers are no longer made, but Pro Parts makes the same header. but they are still partial under frame and fenderwell headers. On tube on the passenger side goes thru the inner fenderwell and 2 tubes on the drivers side go thru the inner fenderwell. I ran these on a 71 Scamp with a 440.

I've used the tti in an a body with both RB and B engine. They just fit. Be careful when ordering. If you have after market heads, can cause a fitment issue. I was running factory heads. They have a couple of choice depending on setup.

I`ve got TTI 2" headers on my 68 barracuda, 440 w/ raised port heads, fit like a glove,. -tite glove tho ! have an aftermarket front end, don`t think this set would work w/ a stock front end on my car.

I have ceramic coated Schumachers in my 68 440 Dart...no problems, fit nice, I also used a mini starter

I have a set of Schumachers that I modified for a four speed. Had the 440 in a 69 Barracuda. They fit great. I really liked them. I ended up putting in the original 383 with cast manifolds, sold the 440.

PM me if you are interested in the headers.

Tti, great fit in my 76 RB Duster, wraps perfectly around the torsion bars. Leave the motor mounts loose so you can tweak the motor fitment slightly then tighten them down. Install engine from underneath helps too.
