My 67 Formula S, 4 speed, fastback may have had a console originally. I say this because the floor pan has had some cutting off of what looks to have been attachment points for a console to the drive shaft tunnel. ?? Are the consoles interchangeable or would I need a 4 speed console specifically? Anybody got any pics of a floor pan with console mounting brackets/4speed console? Thanx

Believe console frames should be the same.
Just top plate different.
Seen Automatic plates used by cutting out shift selector square section.

66 console might be the same as an automatic one, but not 67 to 69 they are different. Where the console is cut for the bump out section side cover. The area were the bump out cover piece attaches to, is thicker so you can mount the cover to. To use the automatic console, you will have to cut the side of the console for the side cover. You will also have to ad epoxy to the area (for a screw) so you can attach the cover. The automatic console is to thin for a screw. (The middle if the side cover)

The 4 spd console uses the same front and rear brackets but the console IS different.

I have seen the 66 4 speed consoles do not have the bump out cover that the 67-69 consoles had.
Was this due to the return of the Hurst shifter in 67? Wondering about clearance issues installing the Hurst setup in an 66 console.

Wow! Ask and you will receive! Thanx! What I am also trying to figure out is whether or not my car actually had a console in the first place. Surely a car without a console would come from the factory without any console attachment points on the hump of the floorpan..?? My car has had some cutting off of what looks to have been attachment points for a console in order for the carpet to lay flat between the seats...???

Like this? I figured all came from body manufacturer with brackets and such for auto and if 4 speed and no console, they just cut it out. This is not my car but mine has same looking cut out.

The only way it left factory with console mounts was it had a console. They ain't welding them to the floor for the hell of it.
Now 4spd vs auto is different story. Factory 4spd woulda left the factory like a good girl....humped
