Hi,
Well I went with all the advice last time when talking about modifying my Tri-y headers. I scrapped the idea and went with the TTi 2" long tubes.
So if anyone is looking for a set of Tri-y headers I have some for sale.
Even with all the questions and order process they still required a fair amount of shimming and adjustments/beatings to get them to fit.
But now they are in with what I hope is enough clearance on everything.
So onto the pipes mufflers and tail pipes.
I have it mini-tubed and moved the springs in to the frame.
I cut a large hole in the trunk and sunk the 20 gallon fuel cell down inside to leave some trunk space.
I have read a bunch of threads with what seems like many different applications for different motors, hp, use etc.
So here is my info and any help would be great.
71 dart, 440 - 4 speed, 508 hp & 565 tq on dyno.
TTI 2" long tube headers with 3.5" collectors.
I will be running a FAST fuel injection with O2 sensor. Not sure if that changes anything.
As I said earlier, mini tub and spring relocation to frame with a fuel cell .
Thanks all.

Are you wanting stainless or just mild steel? You can go down to your local semi supply house and get 3" mandrel bends and pipe.... I've seen a few guys make it out the back with the 3".

Not sure!!!
More than likely I will go stainless. The car really is in good condition and I have spent 3 years doing pretty much a complete frame up restoration so why stop now.
Plus it will last longer with the weather up here.
I was thinking of buying the elbows and pipes to make my own, I like that sort of thing, and TIG welding is one of my favorite things to do.
It's the time or lack there of for me to get it done right. I have waited a long time and am very close to being done.
Maybe buy steel than make my own stainless next winter.
Anyways that is getting off topic. Size is all that matters isn't that what they say???

I like the sound of 2 1/2" duals myself on a 440 street car.
If I were running a blower I might use 3" pipes again maybe. But not over the axle
again.
I went with the 3" exhaust about 10 years ago and I found my car didn't gain any noticable performance like I had hoped. Just more noise. I bent it up myself on a new programmable bender my boss bought and wanted us guys in the shop to get familiar with.
Got the system for the cost of the pipe. It ended up being a lesson learned for me.
I ended up taking them off because of how loud they were. Had to buy more 2 1/2
and do it over.

I looked up the prices for TTI and it is 748$ U.S. for the 3" with X pipe and 653$ for 2.5"
Or 690$ for 3" with H pipe and 595$ for 2.5"
Then add about 35% for the Canadian dollar and another 100$ or so for shipping and duty.
I guess I picked the wrong time to start ordering parts...

Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

Any exhaust shop in your area,if so have them bent up a nice 3" system for ya'..i had a local shop make me a 3" collectors back to the mufflers(with dumps) H-pipe,and stainless magna-flows and band clamps into 2 1/2 tailpipes all aluminized pipes everything bent just the way I wanted it..for $700.00

31/2 inch from collector to X and into muffs....3 or 21/2 inch out over axel into tips,if you have the room....Had my 419 with 3 inch done in oshawa.Custom shop,Simcoe street south.I like the stock look.My tips are 21/2 inch.I welded from collectors to x and muffs with hangers, they only did from muffs to rear. Good luck and nice car too.Your a welder, make your own X or H .

Thanks,
I looked up the pipes that are required to weld my own, and it is probably more expensive to do it that way. With stainless pipe you have to purge the inside of the pipe in order to keep a good weld without contamination on the inside which is where it will rust like mild steel.
The argon to keep the purge is around 80$ a bottle from Prax's air, or TSC.
I am not sure how many it may take to keep the weld clean.
I guess if I knew how to do it and wasn't mocking up every joint each time it may be worth it.
I may try to get away with turn down's in front of the axle for now and make awesome pipes up this winter.
Keep the suggestions coming.
Thanks all.

wait till Yearone has a 30% disc coupon and get a Magnaflow X pipe system, they are running a lot of 30% coupons at the moment. MF systems are well made and sound good

Look into pypes.com think they sell a 3" back set up, you just supply the mufflers. Just looked Summit racing has a 3" header back set up no cross over and no mufflers SUM-680144 $259.97 but it's aluminum steel

I was looking at the summit one just the other day. Not sure exactly what aluminum steel is?
I am going to ask some of the local hot rodders around the area where they got their pipes bent. I think that will be the best idea for now maybe.
I don't imagine it will be long here before some of them are out and about.
I am thinking 3" all the way out but no cross over for now.
Maybe I can take it apart next winter and add it in myself.
That way it will be done right and over with rather than hoping what comes in the box fits correctly.
Thanks again all.
It's getting close after 3 years, can hardly wait. :burnout::cheers:
