U stamped heads

-
There is also an O stamped head. They are all the same except some may have smaller valve depending on the year model they came off of.

Despite letter identifications being used, they're not constant. "J"s are present on more than just "J" heads, and not all "J" heads even have "J"s on them- some have "U"s and "O"s. The final 3 of the casting number being "915" is a "J" head's identifier.

There's not much difference in the ports from U heads to X or J heads...

I have U heads on my 318, they have the 1.88 and1.60 valves. I've been told they are the same as J heads

what is the date code, cast into the top of the heads-like 7 21 2-month day year, and casting number-like 3418915 from 1970-72, 70 and 71 having 2.02" intakes and '72 1.88". and since I work at a foundry-technically the J or X is not stamped ( stamped markings are a depression) the J or X is raised so they are cast markings.

Except 915 wasn't just a 340 head. 360s regardless of how early would have 1.88 valves only.
