73-76 steering linkage in 69 barracuda..

The tie rod ends are the same no matter which center link you have. The idler/pitman/center link MUST match (67-72 and 73-76, 1967 has a unique idler, but uses the same pitman and center link as '68-'72). If you are running a large sector (output shaft) steering gear you MUST use 73-76 steering parts. There may be pitman arms out there for a small sector box and 73-up linkage, but not plentiful.

Thanks to the "improved software" it's getting nearly impossible to locate old threads Here:

confused, steering gear compatibility
The whole deal with later/ early boxes (big/ small pitman shaft) is the center link, pitman and idler. Everything else fits. I guess the exception is the 67 K member which has a "different" idler mount, so I'm not sure there is any way to adapt a later idler to a 67 K, at least without fabrication/ welding, which at least one member on here did.

So look at your center link where the studs come up through for the idler and the pitman. Are the nuts that hold them on top or on the bottom of the center link?

Early setup has nuts on top:

Late linkage has nuts on bottom:

This **** pisses me off

Top diagram, below, is the OLD SMALL SPLINE up through 72 style. Notice which way the pitman and idler studs point, "up"

Diagram below is LARGE sector box, 73 and later. Note that the idler and pitman studs point DOWN. You can NOT use this setup on a 67 K member unless you fabricate the bracket so it will take the later style idler
