I am sure this has been covered . I have a real Frankenstein's . monster. My car is a 72 Scamp . The K is a DC big block conversion with Schumacher reverse conversion motor mounts. A 5.9 magnum from a 97 ram now sits in front of a 727 from an 80s pick-up. The 7.25 got swapped for a 8.25 from a 76 Dart. The DC k-frame was donated from a 75 Dart Sport that had BBP disc brakes. So all this cobbling, I still have power steering but looking to get rid of that soon. Old a-bodies out here are scarce at the boneyards. A guy around here has a 68 valiant, aluminum manual gear box and column. The question is, will this work for me , my front end is 75 Dart Sport, the body is 72 scamp. I've seen reference to large sector this and something about something else. I just don't know how to search this question. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The whole deal with later/ early boxes (big/ small pitman shaft) is the center link, pitman and idler. Everything else fits. I guess the exception is the 67 K member which has a "different" idler mount, so I'm not sure there is any way to adapt a later idler to a 67 K, at least without fabrication/ welding, which at least one member on here did.

So look at your center link where the studs come up through for the idler and the pitman. Are the nuts that hold them on top or on the bottom of the center link?

Early setup has nuts on top:

Late linkage has nuts on bottom:

K frame makes no difference.
A 68 manual steering gear will have smaller shafts at both ends. The question is which steering gear, steering center link, pitman arm and idler arm you have or have access to.
The steering column shaft would need to be 3 inches longer and have a different box coupling or aftermarket adapter.

Problem with the 68 column in your swap would be no ignition key switch. 68 the key was in the dash. 70 and newer the switch is in the column. If you have the knowledge, you can make a column out of the two.

Forgot to mention, so far as power to manual in ANY year (at least 67 / newer) you can buy an extension adapter from several sources that allows the use of the shorter power column shaft with a non power box.

thank you all, I think 67dart273 addressed my concern. I was worried that I would or wouldn't be able to use this with my front end. I believe I still have my centerlink n tie-rods from.the 72 layin around somewhere. Now that I know the pitfalls to.watch for I think this will work. And yes SGBARRACUDA I was fixin to make 2 into 1 as the "donor" column is the wrong color. Thanks again everybody.
