pick a maker, pick a supplier - there are a LOT of choices. Many people are opting for the 17466, which I think is basically a "late model" standard starter on Dakota's etc. - Google is your friend here... or just read this Small Block Starters...

Go to the parts store and tell them you need a starter for an early 90s Dakota with a 318. Bolts right in, pleanty of clearance

A mechanic tried a mini starter on my 67 GTS years ago, don't know which one, but it wouldn't fit so stayed with the stock one. So do they not work on on 67 stock GTS?

Should fit.

Know that it's going to be a bit of a pain wiggling it into place.

I had to put one on my 340 when I installed TTI headers. Personally I don't like it and prefer the sound of the famous stock mopar starter turning over and running on a bit.

There are somewhere around 3 different starters.
Some with a longer nose than others.
I pulled mine from a Forest service Ram truck with a 5.2 and it fit my 318 and 5.9 both and I have been running it for 4 years without one problem and I paid 15 bucks for it.
It just kills me to see people blowing money on multi hundred dollar racing suppliers starters.

The neighbors KNOW when I start my car! Heh...

I can't think of the place on flea bay but I just helped install a $60.00 USFRN starter and the thing was NICE.

Brand new. Fit nice. Turns the engine over like the nob on a poop house door.

Do some Google search and I'm sure you'll find it. You can hardly buy a rebuilt starter for that money.

I had a clearance problem on a small area with the block. I had heard of people grinding on the block but I ground a little off the starter housing and fit right in.
