So I had recently gotten a 800 cfm. Edelbrock Performer Carb. for my 1970 340 Duster (Part Number 1413). Installing was straight forward and pretty simple. However, I ran into a huge problem with what's happening on startup and idle. For whatever reason, I am idling excessively high.
≈Here are some points so far with what I got from toying around:
≈As soon as the engine cranks over, the choke immediately opens all the way.
≈By controlling the choke, I am able to bring the idle down and stop the engine from revving. However if the choke is not feathered occasionally then the engine dies out.
≈The plug in the back is in, plugs are hooked up correctly, wiring is connected correctly, and throttle cable is hooked correctly with the Chrysler adapter.
≈Engine does sound like it's running rough.
I'm not too sure where the problem could be, and I have not really done any carb. work before this point. Any help would be extremely useful! I'll upload some pictures when I get home from work today for anyone who'd like to see them.
