Okay, I taped all around the back glass of my 1973 Dart Custom (vinyl top) and the water leaking has nearly completely stopped. I think the back glass needs to be pulled and resealed? I think the weather strip around the deck lid needs replaced also, as it is flat as a pancake and may not be making a complete seal when the deck lid is closed. Here is my concern with pulling the back glass for a seal job; what if there is some major issues with rust up under the glass flange? I really do not want to get into any major body repair on the car, I bought it to drive it not restore it. Maybe the answer is buy a quality cover and just drive her on dry days? Thanks in advance for you input!

There is a VERY high chance it is rusted out along the bottom of the window seal lip since dirt, leaves and other crap gets in there and can only be cleaned out if the trim is removed.
That junk holds the moisture.
I actually thought about and still may, make a drain down in that channel that goes into the trunk then across and out the bottom of the trunk on one side.

One other thing that leaks on vinyl top cars is the little screw end that protrude into the trunk from the trim across the back.

What did you end up doing? On my car water gets under the vinyl, but I don't think it leaks into the trunk (yet).

Funny you should ask! Was at a car show Saturday and a gentleman who is quite the MOPAR Man recommended a fellow who will pull the molding off where the vinyl meets the quarter panel and fill the rust hole up with a heavy sealant on both sides. The vinyl top on mine is in really good shape with just a few bumps above there chrome moldings! This fellow has done some window replacement and sealing for me before so I think I'll give him a call and see what he thinks after he has had a chance to crawl in the trunk and get a look-see! Really love my old Dart!! Will go over 2800 miles on her this week since purchased in November!!
