This looks like a north east Duster by the mid 1980's

How about Caldor's? Bought my copy of Pac-Man for my Atari 2600 there and my 45 record of Jake Geiles- " Centerfold"
What will our kids remember 35 years from now.

Caldors was great. They had the best model car section.
Bradlees, Mays, Jamesway, Montomery Ward, Korvettes, Whites, Ames, Alexanders, Barkers, Gimbels, Woolworths...Where did the time go!

Didn't take long for 'em to rust out in the rust states, that's for sure.

No doubt, my uncle bought a 70 duster new, 4 years later and 40,000 miles the leaf springs went thru the trunk.
He sold it to junkyard for next to nothing.

I grew up in Pennsylvania and my first car bought in 79 was a 72 Duster. It had L60's on the back and one day I heard this scraping in the rear. Pulled over and noticed a piece of the inside of the wheel well about the size of the small dinner plate rusted off and fell onto the tire. No harm done, I just pulled it out and kept on driving!

Oh, the good old days!!! Its amazing how far we've come in technology since then!!

I remember a Zayres on McKnight Road in the Northern suburbs of Pittsburgh were I grew up

There was a Zayre here in Cincinnati.
We also had Swallens, Rinks and Van Leunens stores also.
We also have more than our fair share of rusted out Mopars back in the day.
But the Chevy's were just as bad if not worse and how many 30 yr old Toyota's have you ever seen?

Were they worse than typical cars of the era?

All of the cars that I obsessed over when I was a high schooler in the 1990s were notorious rust buckets. In particular, Darts/Dusters and Datsun 240zs.

As another North East person, remember and miss Caldor and Bradlee's too! Much of my Transformers collection came from those stores!

i remember looking at a 280 Z when I was like 21, it was sitting in a field, floors and frame rotted out of it, the guy was trying to sell it to me. i was like"I ain't that dumb man..."

I had a 73 Dart Sport convertriple in 1979ish... Bought it for 100$ from my room mate.... Rear sprig mounts rusted out and the springs popped thru into trunk....I used a stop sign post to prop them up .
