Went on the Dyno today, basic 5.7L

Dang that's pretty smart, how long of a time-frame are we talking about with that progressive power return? Does it just cut ignition and/or fuel, since you said the air never slows down?

I'd have to dig into it for the number, but it's seamless. My clutch input switch is also at the top of the pedal's travel, so spark doesn't reengage until the clutch pedal is fully released.

It cuts fuel and retards spark.
 
I ended up flattening out on peak power for a couple of hundred rpm.

Looking at a log I think I've determined my air filter is far too small since I am pulling a vacuum as the revs rise [watch the MAP].

Since then I have bought what K&N sells for their Hemi CAIs and will run that filter....it's about 80% more surface area. I expect a few more horsepower up top, perhaps at a little higher rpm as well.

I bought the filter I had before just to get the car out on the road, I didn't think it would choke out the engine that much. From what I've seen it's almost amazing it made as much power as it did on the dyno...its FAR too small.

Did to just log a pull with the filter off the pipe to make sure it's really the Filter and not something else?
Not saying it isn't but it would be a quick and simple test. I did the same test 15 years ago on my 74 Duster(360 magnum, M1 single plane, Holley MPI). The simple test showed the Stock dual snorkel was more the issue than the Fram paper filter.

I don't have anywhere near by the make a decent 3rd gear 100mph pull to get a similar comparison. The numbers for the filter are nearly indisputable, there's no question it's too small.
