My gas tank has a hose bib above the sending unit assembly. I want to use it as a return for my fuel injection. The problem is that it is a 5/16 hose bib and I have all -6AN (3/8) lines. Will a hose clamp get the braided nylon hose tight enough or do I need to go another route?

I drilled a hole on the tank and added a bulkhead -6 AN fitting with a 6” piece of aluminum tubing down in the tank. Works great.

I was worried that the return fitting in the tank was too small. It would create some back pressure, which would effect the regulator

Is the return fitting in the sending unit itself? Or is it one on the top-middle of the tank? If it's the one at the top-middle of the tank it should be a 1/4" line fitting. Just get a step fitting/step hose barb to be on the safe side and you'll be good to go.

It's the one in the top middle of the tank, not the sending unit. Now to find a step fitting.

the top middle fitting "on mine" is a hi/up top vent tube. I cut the sock off aqnd use my 3/8" feed line for a return. Down in the gas is better , to not cause any aeration.

I ended up drilling a new hole just below the existing vent and inserting a bung with a -6an fitting. Problem is now cured forever. LOL

I upsized my 5/16ths hose bib to 3/8ths using a step drill and then silver soldered in a 3/8ths steel hose bib. It works perfectly. I used a few pairs of small vice grip plyers to wick the heat away from the plastic sending unit feed to keep it from melting.

do u know the diff. between a hose bibb, and a hose barb ??

I said it wrong as well. It is a hose barb. Learn something new every day. In any case we were all talking about the same thing.
