Hey Guys, just thought I'd share my 1/8th mile ET differences after swapping out the 8 3/4 with 3.91s to a Dana 60 with 3.54 gears. Also added a 6 point roll bar but deleted the carpet. So, maybe I added 50 lbs total? Still have front and rear bench seats. The track didn't have scales.

The first time slip is my best pass ever at the same track in October in good air. went 7.48 with a 1.54 60 ft time.

The second time slip is yesterday.... also in good air. First time out with 3.54 geared Dana 60 addition of roll bar deleted carpet. All other things remain unchanged. Went 7.59 with a 1.59 60 ft time.

I drive this car a lot on the street so I am really happy with only giving up 0.11 in the 1/8th mile. May have been less if I could have run the 1/4 mile.

The last pic is of this run. I once again beat this Pontiac 455 with gutted interior, no hood, no inner fenders, geared 4.10. Super nice guy, but I think he was embarrassed.

i'm betting everyone would love you to try a 3.23 gearset and see how much your time would change!

Well unfortunately the lowest gear set you can find for a Dana 60 is 3.54 so that's not gonna happen LOL. The Dana is in this Dart to stay!

Oops..Dana,I should have read a little more carefully!
having said that....who have compared time slips with 3.55 and 3.23 gears?

So it cost you a little time. If it's more fun on the street that isn't too bad. Nice short time though.

A welded in 6 point roll bar is close to 75-80 lbs alone. And the dana is another 60 lbs over the 8-3/4.

Yeah I really need to weigh it in its current state. No carpet saved me 35 lbs? But roll bar added ??? And I've seen lots of different opinions on weight difference between the 8 3/4 and the Dana 60.

The reason for the roll bar and Dana is that I'm putting on a Procharger in a few weeks to shoot for mid 10'secind 1/4 mile times

Stock junkyard 5.9 magnum bottom end. Comp 230/236 @ 0.50 and .507/.513 lift. Stock EQ heads, airgap, Holley 750 DP, cheap summit headers. 904 with a 3,800 ultimate converter

Yes i agree safety first. Also the roll bar helps to stiffen the chassis to get the car to launch better

How many cubic inches are you running? I'm running 3.23's in my car, some day I'll try more gear at the track but I love these 3.23's on the street. It runs mid 10's but it is a mild 500" big block.

Very nice, how much HP and TQ is your motor making? Did you weigh the car? Mine is 3100 without me in it. i am hoping for an 11.60@116 mph with 3.73 gears

Mine is 360 cubic inch small block. If you are running mid 10s with 3.23s that is awesome! I hope to run mid 10s with this small block once the pro charger is installed.

In the past i have swapped from an 8.75 rear to a Dana( both had same gears) on consecutive weekends with same air and saw zero difference on my ET slip, despite the 50-60 pounds weight difference. The Dana is more efficient.
Regards the roll bar, i think its extremely beneficial to add the two angled bars that go from the main hoop, though the rear seat footwells and tie into( weld to) the frame connectors. It really improves chassis rigidity and makes the car more “one piece” doing that can really help with 60 foots a good bit. Those two points make it an 8 point. I just did that on my new car. Wouldnt have not added those bars.

I haven't dyno'd it but I'm sure it puts out some torque. It weighs 3300 with me in it.

The procharger is going to like the 3.54's. Plenty of Forced Induction cars don't run a lot of gear and haul the mail.

Yes, that's exactly what I have. Called it a 6 point but it is technically an 8 point with the two diagonal down bars behind the front seat.

I also think the Dana is more efficient making up for the weight gain

I'd really try to get it on a chassis dyno and get the base numbers and the AFR.

I've never dyno'd any of my cars, even the 2 nine second cars I raced. I just tune the jetting and timing and check plugs every now and then. I'm sure a dyno could provide some good info though.

If you are tuning at the strip that makes for a pretty good dyno in and of itself.
