who the hell would use a junk chain and a tensioner? use a good chain set and no stupid tensioner . tensioners are for motorcycles-where sprocket to sprocket length varies due to suspension movement

From past discussions on here I remember many saying that basically any timing chain set you buy short of the top-dollar stuff WILL stretch after some time, almost inevitably... in that case I like tensioners simply because it keeps the timing (valve and ignition) from bouncing around. But it's one of those things that apparently wasn't a big deal to Ma Mopar as there was no real rhyme or reason to which engines got tensioners and which didn't; I just tore down a JY 5.9L Magnum out of a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 and it had no tensioner. All the G3 Hemis have timing chain tensioners, but then those have larger cam-to-crank centerlines... idk lol

EDIT: IIRC the 3.9 V-6 engines stretch timing chains worse than the V-8s because they have a very uneven firing interval
