It feels like its binding between shifts. Could it be a sprag? I haven't broken anything. Or could the bands be out of adjustment? I just dropped the transmission a few weeks ago to install a higher stall converter. Now this issue has risin

Between 1st and 2nd, or 2nd and 3rd ?
I have to ask... is the trans full of fluid? (added fluid after TC swap)
Do you have a manual VB?

It's mostly 1-2 when it shifts it's like someone is putting the brakes on when its changing gears. It's a regular valve body. The transmission is from TCI. I have a kickdown cable on it. It was fine then all of a sudden it started with this .

The level looks to be on the low line on the dipstick while checking it in neutral. I do have a auxiliary cooler and a deep pan.

Reverse is fine. It goes into all the gears fine. Just the gear change while driving is what's messed up. Weather shifting it automatically or manually.

Ok. Check your valve body. It could be loose, and check all of the screws that hold the VB together.

Ok. I'll hopefully check it out tomorrow. I'm hoping it's just something easy. But we will see.

Yeah, I hear ya.. But if the valve body is ok, I would suspect something in the front clutch (Hi clutch)
If the fluid smells funny, that's probably it.

Check your kickdown cable adjustment

Does it bind in drive when it shifts automatically or just when you manually shift it? If it only happens when you manually shift it the rear band is not fully releasing when the front band it applied. Did you check the band adjustment? If the bands are adjusted too tight it'll cause this. It could also have a broken return spring in the rear servo.
