Ten years ago I got laid off from my job of 35 years. Since then I will occasionally have workplace related dreams. None of the dreams have been bad, but some much better than others.
Sometimes they're a kind of generic shop setting, other times they are the exact test lab, down to the last detail, with most of the people that were there. I was based at that location almost 20 years.
Mostly it was a good place to work, especially the first 8 years. The last 12 years in a different part of the building reminded me of being in high school shop class, how it was laid out and organized.
During that 35 years I worked at 5 different locations in two states, but the exact recreation dreams were at the 20 year location, where I started the job at.
It was mostly a good job, except for the last 8 months. It was at a development and testing lab of an auto parts manufacturing company, a good place for a car guy to work.
At the first location, the 20 year one we had the capabilities to be able to scratch fabricate either a complete stainless exhaust system or a set of shock absorbers, since those were the two products worked on there. We could also use the shop equipment afterhours, use the lifts on Friday nights. Life was good, the unofficial benefits priceless.
