As I work more on my project, it seems I have more wiring and rewiring ahead of me than anticipated. I’m not very fond of going back and forth to the parts store for the stiff, overpriced primary wire they sell. Does anyone know where I can get good, quality automotive wiring? Like one of those sets that come with wires in all kinds of colors and gauges? Thanks.

Something like this but without the speaker wire, zip chord, and with more variety.

I've bought a lot from Del City as well as Amazon. Just research what you need in terms of type, color and size (gauge) and order rolls. I have pretty much all of the colors (black, white, blue, green, grey, pink, yellow) in 18 gauge to 10 gauge. I don't generally use anything less/smaller than 18g, but I do have some 8 gauge black and red for power and ground leads. I built an entire electrical section in my shop and stock not only the wiring but 3 different types of connectors, crimping tools, test equipment, soldering station, etc.

Del city is good. Purchase from them before as well for the 10-22 ga wires. I bought power and ground wires from local audio store and also from Stinger. I didn’t want cheap wiring to be carrying the power or ground.

The connectors I also purchased from amazon. NASCAR style for the bulkhead and regular 1-2-4-8 pin for the rest. Spent maybe 80 bucks on those all together to tuck the wires and refresh the cars wiring. That way if you add things later down the road you have extra pins in the connectors to add to and make it look neater. It says 12-20 ga but is actually 8-22 ga.

Waytekwire is really good, I have purchased a lot of stuff from them.

Here is my setup, built it when I was wiring my Cuda, has been awesome.

Watch country of origin... not all sellers sell US wire. I buy lots of wire from waytek!

I always go for quality GXL or TXL type wire. The best quality and price that I've found is wirebarn. You can order by the foot and they have excellent prices with fast shipping/delivery.

Thanks Kendog, i put that in my items i am watching. I will prob pick that up just to keep around for any other future wiring projects.

I think you are looking for individual DIY sets but if you ever look for a pre-made harness these guys are the best I could find: Rebel Wire .:. Wire Kits for Real Rods

Their 9+3 Circuit Harness is $205
16 Circuit is $235
21 Circuit $254

Rebel Wire harnesses are all assembled in America from American made components. We use only heavy duty SXL wire and label each one every 6" then bundle them for easy installation.

What did that setup run you? I like that. It could come in handy.

To be honest I am not sure how much I have in it, I built the rack and probably have $20-$30 in that (wheels and clevis pins), the wire however I probably have several hundred dollars in at least. Wire isn't overly cheap as I am sure you know. I bought packs from Amazon and eBay where I would get like 4 colors of a certain gauge. I usually had to get a roll of pink independently.

All that said, this rack has been indispensable. I also have a HF bin setup where I keep wire pieces and old wire. I also have a cabinet where I have all of my connectors (weather pack, packard and metri pack).

Iv'e never used a Rebel wire kit but I have used a Kwik Wire harness and a EZ wire harness. Both were ok overall, the Kwik harness is in my Cuda and due to all of the components I added, I had to do a lot of rewiring/configuring. All of the modern sire harnesses I have seen are WAY better than the factory stuff in that every wire is labeled along its length as to it's function which makes wiring a car vastly easier. You can integrate factory switches into the harness but you really need to do your home work so that you know how the switch works and what it needs.

Where did you purchase the rack itself ?

If you can't positively source it as made in USA, DO NOT buy it.
