It is an easy enough task to change the output housing and shaft, to convert the transmission to a long tailshaft slip yoke style. You just need to ensure that the output shaft you use is correct to mate to the forward planetary carrier. Other than the oddball 65 and prior stuff there are only two shafts, 75 and earlier and 76 and later. The difference is that the splines on the forward end of the shaft are cut differently and must match the planetary carrier.
