440 AAR
New Member
Hi all,
greetings from Alaska! Even though I don't own a C body, I've been a member over there for a while, as the radiator (and possibly the 440) in my '70 AAR came from one.
Anyway, I've been meaning to get over here and join, as I have a 318-2V '69 Barracuda, that has been sitting in storage since I got it 10+ years ago. My main joy is the AAR, and I'm working on getting it back on the road again, as it too, sat in a cold, dark cannery building for over 10 years.
My main issue now, is what to do with my '69. I drove it there, with a tire blowing as I pulled off the highway, and the brakes fading out too. My goal was to "restore" it, and have a small block driver (love the lines on these "Baby Road Runner" cars!). But, time marches on, and the amount of work needed to get it going again is starting to outpace my attention, and future funding.
I have a bunch of pics I took a week ago, and plan on starting a "save, or scrap?" thread here when I find the time. So, yes, it has rust issues, but is still a complete, (somewhat) original car. And, most everything is there. One half of me says pull the engine/tranny, salvage all the good parts, and drag to the salvage yard (AKA the Crusher). The other half of me says, "no way, it's not too far gone to kill off!"
I live on an Island, about 700 miles North of Seattle, and that is the main issue. If I was "down in America", I imagine I would have no problem selling it (for a realistic price), and someone who can weld in patch panels and stuff, would have a great project. But! the shipping to get it to Seattle is almost $1K.
So, there's my story, and I'll post up some pics after a while.
