So the daily driver was in dire need of an oil change.

I received four free oil filters that fit the old Buick (gratis) from a fellow employee at my PT gig so I went out to the shop yesterday to change the oil... the filters were missing. Likely in the shop somewhere but one of my son's likely mispaced them while he was doing a construction project over the winter.

So I headed over to my local Federated Auto Parts store for a couple filters and some oil.

I get some pretty good deals there... been doing biz with them for 20 years and actually worked there for one week earlier this year (my old back and SI joint could not handle the heavy lifting on their delivery route).

So I picked up a 5qt. jug of their 5W30 house brand oil (made by or for Amalie) $12.85, two Casite filters $2.18 each and a new magnetic drain plug to replace the one some monkey stripped the head off of....

Total for the change only (no plug) was $15.03. Pretty good deal for semi-synthetic at their regular price. They usually have an oil sale in the fall.

The Casite filers are made in Nebraska by Hastings/Baldwin. I've had good luck with these over the years and the brand is one of the oldest I know of (just like their Baldwin brand).

O'reillys deal would have been at least 7 or 8 bucks more I believe. Tuff to find a $2.18 filter at the leprechaun's store.

I also get some stuff at my local NAPA store. More good prices and I use the NAPA filters on my trucks.

Yeah. Always go with the cheapest chit you can find.

A salesman once told me his vehical gets whatever is cheapest and that he has never gotten less than 250,000 miles or if any of them. Kim

Nothing wrong with Amalie oil....used to come out of the Kendall refinery. One of the oldest brands out there.

Same with the filters... I dont think you need to pay for advertising...
