The circuit breaker is inside the switch and it is a strip of bimetal. It will crack in half and fail completely eventually. Learned that the hard way back in mid 80s.
I took the 67 variable switch apart and routed those connections out of the switch so a common/can type cycling circuit breaker could be attached outboard. Of course the linkage and pivots were serviced to stop the high resistance in operation.
Thanks for the idea. I lubed the linkage when I checked the motor a year ago. A strange thing happened yesterday when I tried the wipers. They kept working. Now how do you figure that?
