hey all

Continuing on getting my 69 dart reliable
(225/904/3.23’s)
Was really hesitating when I first got it and pissing fuel so since I got her I:
Rebuilt carb
New vac lines
Checked timing
Adjusted valves
Pertronix
Plugs
Cap
Wires
Coil

Car really woke up. Almost like a modern 4 cylinder. So, here’s my question....is it normal?
My quick barely rolling test in my 69 four door brought a rough 0-60 time of 20 seconds
Butt feel is:
0-10 great
10-35 slow
35 and up great.
Is that normal?
Uphill has no balls. Like second gear (904) and slow putt putt up. This is up a steep hill
And does the 904 seem like it shift 1-2-3 quickly? Like it doesn’t hold the gears very long?

The newly painted wheels didn’t add much hp

closest gas station to my current location

You can adjust your kick down linkage ( make it longer) to hold the gear longer . Like mashed to the floor shifts in to 3rd @70. Might need about a 3 mile stretch for that. Lol. If it's shifting to quick the trans will eat itself up.

Link to that adjustment?

Is the vacuum advance working on the distributor? (turbo)
like the car! could see it with a 360/5-speed/8-3/4...$$$

It should work better with 3.23's for real. I would do a performance re-curve on the distributor after setting the transmission kick down properly.

Kickdown linkage was off. Reinstalled and had to put a new spring on. It runs about 14 seconds for 0-60. I think I’ll still have to adjust the linkage as when it downshifts from 3-2 it’s a bit rough. Then full throttle 2-3 is a little rough too

Advancing the timing to 10-12 initial should help. You may have to limit mechanical advance. You can power time it until you detect pinging, then back off. If set to factory spec, it'll be sluggish.

What rear gear do you have? If in the high 2's you'll have to live with it. Good for mileage, bad for acceleration. Also automatic sucks some of the limited power you have available.
