Come on people, we're talking about the price of a gasket set here to see what parts are there and in what condition. I mean seriously, that's the best option.

Yeah I don't know why anyone would do anything different in this particular case.

Like I said earlier, I might do it different if it was advertised as just a stock-ish rebuild and it looked the part. Check some casting numbers, maybe take a peak with a borescope. But in that case I'm assuming its a relatively low compression engine with cast parts and I'm not expecting anything. And even in that case, if I looked in there with a borescope and saw valve reliefs the heads are coming off, because now I know it's not just a stock rebuild with factory replacement stuff.

For an engine advertised as a supercharged race engine? I'm gonna check everything if I don't know the builder or the parts. Especially before I lay out dough for a supercharger. Even small discrepancies in the build could be catastrophic when the boost starts in.
