Found an ad for a 318 and 727 trans on FB Marketplace not far from me, guy said it came out of a 1970’s Dodge truck, looked like a Warlock to me...said it ran good and shifted nice, claims it has 75k miles. I figured for $300 it seemed like a good deal especially since it had almost every engine accessory on it. I figured that it might make a good engine for the wife’s Valiant once I freshen it up and put a 4-speed behind it...but then I noticed the heads...there is a “J” between the plugs...score! I can’t read the numbers on the block to see if it’s a 340 cause the motor mounts and exhaust manfolds are in the way and I can’t get it out of the truck till Saturday when I have a little time to find a place to put it. Definitely not a 360, but I would love to find out its a 340!! How ever it could be a 318 with “J” heads installed...either way I think I got a good deal :)
BTW, I asked the kid why he pulled it and he said he’s swapping in an LS Chev and 6-speed...not my cup of tea but they are cheap...I just can’t go down that road so I’m glad to score this from him.
