First drag race..........woohoo!

Remember he's driving quite some distance to get to the track in a very old car? He's probably not trying to do a 1.5 60 foot and expecting to freeway drive it back home without broken parts...
This was just a benchmark for an old drivetrain that is going to be replaced this winter with a new one. I'm sure when he gets that 8 and 3/4 in there with the new Driveline the rebuilt transmission and rebuilt Slant six he might not be so hesitant to drop the clutch. Also a great time to mention the clutch tamer...

I was very serious in my last post, not trying to be a smartass. His car needs time to get moving. Just make a lot of pass's and get the reaction time down.

I wasn't trying to insinuate you were being any kind of smart-*** and I believe you were giving great advice. I was just trying to bring the fact that he was just going down to get a pass or two for a benchmark and that was it. Also big kudos for him just taking the car and getting acquainted with just going down to the track paying your fees going through Tech, lining up and figuring it all out. That's a massive huge step...

I think its great myself, I was there in 1977.

Congratulations on getting her out there and letting her play. I love stories like these. Way to go!...

I've never taken a /6 to the strip, I'm sorry I didn't. I also have never taken a 3 on the tree to the strip, sorry I didn't do that either. :(

Close....:poke:..lol...
I had an absolute gorgeous '79 Volare that came factory with /6, manual steering, 3-speed manual on the floor, and I believe 3.21 gears. I bet that Super Six would have matched your 2.1 60 ft (maybe your 330 ft too :D) :poke:

True, just like the car - which is going to be stuck till next year when I plan the next trip to see what all the new parts will do.
