Repo outer handles

Ordered a new set of outer door handles for my 70 dart. Notice the ball that connects to the latch release rod, the placement is different. I installed the passenger handle and it works just fine, just wondering if anyone else came across this...

I bought a set from year one and they appear to be the same as originals.
It almost looks like the pivot ball was placed in the wrong place some time on the original.

My pic the original is on the right Yearones is on the left

Heres pics of ones I bought from here for our 69 cuda. Different scenario but similar lol. Plastic "clips" that are(I think) for truck. I simply swapped my original springs etc (undo Phillip's screw)over to the repop handles.

When I restored my cuda 25 years ago I used truck door handles and they look identical except for what was noted above.

Yep, the "swap" is pretty ez, but ya gotta have originals to swap from.

Why not grind off the ball. Then use the plastic clip in the new hole?
