I am measuring for driveshaft to be shortened, My question is when you bottom out yoke to output of trans. can this be done with rubber boot on tailshaft.?

yes you measure from center of front u joint to center of rear u joint

Yes, push it in all the way until it stops. Allow it to come back out 1" and take your measurement from there. The boot may want to push it back farther.
Thanks for the replies! Now just have to find a shop thats open during the state shutdown. Auto parts stores are open so I can get some work done while Im home for 2 weeks!
What I did was shove the driveshaft in as far as I could, pic showing collapsed rubber boot and slid out 1" second pic. Looking for shop close to home in N.W. CT
