1970 duster door lock clip installation

I made a tool for installing the clip onto the door lock out of 1/2" square tubing x 18" long. you cut a slot on the end of tube with a narrow cut off wheel so that the clip will fit in the slot, then put the clip into the slot and then hammer the end of the tube down sow that it holds clip in place, but not to tight because you will have to be able to twist the tool off after you install the clip! I also had to use a small hammer to tap the clip into place while someone pushed the lock inwards to help with installation!

Could you explain how exactly the lock cylinder is mounted? I'm having trouble figuring it out.

I am not sure what you are asking me but the cylinder and seal go in from the out side and you have to attach the rod to it, then push in on cylinder from outside to help with clip installation. it takes twp people, well, it did for me!
