1/4 mile times with 3.23 gear

I accidently left in second gear many years ago. 1.45 2nd x 4.10 rear equals 5.9 slr. A 2.45 first x 3.23 is 8 slr, much better!
33 inch x15 slicks, 535 stroker, 5000 stall.
I had dialed 10.40 but fell off to 10.60 et. 3400 lb race weight. So you can see torque and high stall speed really help.
IMHO a great combo would be 2.74 low, 3.23 rear, biggest shortblock you can afford, and a high stall lockup converter of at least 3200 rpm
the Mopar Performance News magazine did an article about that exact problem. their thought was to make the engine work harder but use less rpm. kinda like the 53 Studebaker with a 500 inch Caddy engine. I don't believe it rev'd over 5500 but was consistent 11's...at least that's what I remember.
