No reed valve .. the engine is at a shop that specializes in vintage bikes . He was amazed how clean is was . New case seals and rings just to be safe.

SaWeet ! Frame had a defect so we will be doing it over z.
Mike is pickey ...
It pays to have friends !

The shop that's doing the engine....is it local to you? I need the engine rebuilt for my Suzuki TS-185. I'd hate to have to ship it plum across the country, but there's nobody local that I trust.

Luke could do it but surely there is someone in your area that is qualified.
There is a large vintage following on the east coast . Let me see if I can get some referals.

Waiting on parts . May have to find a new shock or have a new rod machined for the old Corse Cosso .

Might need to hone the shock body too looking at wear on the piston.
Otherwise, looking awesome and can’t wait to see it all together!

I have chatted with him online . I want to learn (try) how to rebiuld it myself before sending it off .
I may be at the point where I will have to though . This Corte Cosso shock was only used in 82 and problamatic. Mine has been converted to an Ohlins sealhead which may be obsolete to make things worse. I found 1 guy that wants 1200$ for a rebuilt Ohlins but NO way am I spending half the cost of the bike on a shock !

LOL...yep, prices going up on everything. My brother needs new shocks for his 80 440 and he hasn’t made up his mind what he’s going to do.

Are you going to use emulators in the forks?? Those things work.

I assume your are talking about the Race Tech Gold ? I am about to take the forks apart in the next few days . This suspension has been modified in the past and may already have some custom valving. The forks are supposed to be pretty good in stock form and the Vintage tracks are pretty mild. Our local track only has 1 tabletop jump and very few bumps.
I would rather spend the money on my KTM 300 suspension. Single track riding and Enduro racing are much more demanding on suspension . I used to do some desert racing but decided there are no good crashes at 60+ mph . Lol

The Radical Radial is straight sexy all by itself. Then you wrap that bright red frame around it and it’s pure pornography.

Can’t wait to see the finished bike.

Need to find a replacement coil and/or get new ignition. Cable broke off right at the base... urgh
Just got my Race Tech Gold Valve for the forks ... springs are on back order.
So suspension and ignition holdups.

Let me ask my brother if he has any good coils left.

Honestly, I ditch the Motoplat and buy the ignition we used on my brothers 440 and a friends 490. I can’t think of the name of it right now but it’s a much better ignition and it was relatively inexpensive. That Motoplat is 40 years old.

My brother fought his for about 6 months. He was told they either work or they don’t, and he was fighting tune up changes and issues. One day he decided to replace the clutch side crank seal because all the gurus told him it was the seal. And...same thing.

When the bike started shaking like a dog pooping peach seeds because the timing was moving all over the place, he finally gave up and changed it. Then he had to go back and change the tune up to what it was when the ignition started to fail.

I’ll see what he has today and let you know. And I’ll get the name of that ignition. I think it was Horse Power Igntion...HPI or something like that.
