I dont think the noise will be an issue . Those Cummins are pretty quiet under load . But the heat and fit would be a hassle . Not to mention you will need to change everything in the driveline .
Trany , driveshaft , ujoints , gears ....
and cooling.
A torque tuned 408 with the correct cam would seldom see 5k and everything would fit nicely. All you would need is the 518 and a shorter driveshaft . Remember you will just be cruising along around 2800 rpm 99% of the time.
I think my 408 build would fit your RV to a tee. It will be torque monster. And makes makes max torque low in the RPM range. So says Desktop dyno. Cannot get a appointment on a engine dyno to run it, but still trying...3:55 gears with GV unit in 66 Dart...
