Remember--these are magnetos---driven by the magnet on the flywheel, not a battery. So I began to wonder if my results are "factual."
So last night I tore down and old 4hp Evinrude, not worth fixing, very low compression. And what you see is the block, crank, and enough mag parts to mount and test two coils. For now I'll drive it with a socket in a drill on the flywheel nut. Eventually I hope to belt up a motor. The one you see lying there is a big heavy 3/4hp. Anything else I have is hopelessly buried for now
So this should create a "real world" test setup to evaluated various coils. Plus there are two independent coil/ points setups so they will be comparable.
