2013 5.7 Hemi oil?

-
Unfortunately, there is little choice for the 5.7 L Hemi. My 2012 300 C is in the same boat.

You have to use 5w20 oil for the MDS system to work properly.

You can use synthetic or synthetic blend as long as it’s the correct 5w20 weight...but I wouldn’t want to do it for more than one or two oil changes. The lube properties of conventional oil are important for the MDS.

Ddaddy what makes the convectional better for the MDS? I have been using Mobile one Synthetic in my 2014 RT since its first oil change. It now has 97K miles on it. Did they change something in the design in 2014? Not criticizing Just trying to learn

There have been reported issues with the synthetic oils leading to flat-spotting the rollers on the MDS lifters when they bleed down for 4 cyl mode. It is related to the synthetic oil being too slippery to provide sufficient friction to keep the rollers rolling.

my 2013 5.7 calls for 5/20 CONVENTIONAL Motor oil. getting a litte hard
to find. not sure what to use. Suggestions?
Have been using Pennzoil Platinum 5w30, or Ultra when I can find it, for 5 years in my 2015 Ram 1500 5.7. No problem with MDS. Oil changes annually or 7500 miles.
