Hello, I am on the look out for a replacement 8 1/4 rear diff for my 1974 Dodge Dart Custom V8 . The original 7 1/4 is tired. Like to stay with the 2.76 gear , V8 large lug pattern a must. I'm located in Barstow and will travel up to 400 miles for the right one.

Thank you,

Can't help you with the rear but I will say this:
If you can, get the driveshaft too if the rear comes out of another Dart. The change from a 7.25 to a 8.25 will require a driveshaft that's about 1 1/2" inches shorter, IIRC.
Duster/Dart Sports have a different wheelbase, so their shafts wouldn't work in this case.
Good Hunting!

Thank you for the enlightenment, yes, The driveline is different. I had a couple nice offers but I have not fooled with cars in many years and costs have really gone up. My Dart is a 4 door driver only, (nice one too) I have a pride and joy Duster that all my money is reserved for right now. so I'll rebuild the 7 1/4 if I can't locate an affordable 8 1/4. Thank you everyone for your help. Didn't mean to write a long mopar blues story (LOL)

All 8 1/4" car axles are big bolt pattern. NONE came with a 2.76 ratio. The closest was 2.71.

I have an 8 1/4 big bolt pattern rear under this 73 340 Duster. Supposedly it's a sure grip but haven't taken the time to break the drums loose where it will roll. I'm in West Monroe, Louisiana
