I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong place. Newbie here. Lol.

Question for everyone. Hubby and I are almost finished restoring his 66 Formula S and our paint/body guy "misplaced" the top trunk lid hinges.

We have 1 on the "new" 66 he brought home last month. Could it be used as a pattern to fabricate new ones?

Pics are of the Formula S.
Thanks! Karla

SN: every one I’ve ever bought, sold or threw away were a little sloppy. So getting a set and it’s loose is normal.

side note: smack the painter for loosing part of your car. Welcome aboard!

It's not practical to make a trunk hinge, they are a cast piece. If you locate a replacement and it is worn, a FABO member, Chryslerfat, rebuilds them with a new, larger diameter pin. He did two for me and am very happy with the results.

Welcome Karla! You know how to make an entrance.....with pictures! Nice lookin early!

Funnily enough i repaired my hinges today.

someone has had an attempt at a repair, i assume years ago, and used what looks like a nail as the pin.

correct size silver steel rod and drilled the hinge for a grub screw.

easy.
