Question on port matching

@Ed
I never thought that my question about port matching would lead to a 9 page discussion. A while back I mentioned it when guy's have the cylinder heads milled 0.040" and more, how that would affect port matching and intake manifold bolts and if my memory is right the reply was it won't hurt anything. I don't believe that milling the heads 0.040" plus doesn't affect flow.

The complete picture is the stock head gasket was around .019-.021 thick.
The replacement stuff is anywhere from .039-.054 thick. .040 is really .020 or a hair less in the end after the new thicker head gaskets go on. When you mill .060.. then you'll need a minimum of roughly .030 to be in the range of bolt on 'in regards to edelbrock ootb manifold', though there is a formula of what to mill from the intake face per x amount from the deck. 360 open chamber is iirr .0048 per 1cc and something like .0098 off the intake face for every. 010 milled off the deck...but check that yourself. You can google it. Its everywhere.
