Considering purchasing TTI headers for an engine build using Trick Flows Powerport 190 heads. TTI recommends only using their 1 7/8" race headers. They say they are the only ones that will bolt up properly. I also want to find out if anyone has used these headers that has a Firm Feel sector shaft support mounted to the power steering box and Kframe? Everything else in my build is listed as a (yes) for fitment. Sure seems amazing to me that things will clear on the drivers side considering my current Hedman headers are only 1 5/8" and are barely missing the steering box. For the investment, I hope they are right. Sucks that current availability is backed up until probably June. Waited 9 months for my cam and just happened to get lucky that someone returned one to Summit and I snatched it up. Never thought the same would happen for headers.

I'll be honest, it's great to see people getting their parts after waiting forever!
It was sheer luck. Comp told me there were over 200 orders for my cam and they were still waiting for cores. That was a month ago. I was just checking Summit for the cam specs to see if I could find something similar, and it said there were 2 in stock. Couldn't believe it. Couldn't press the keys fast enough.

I buiit a, similar to, the " one of none N -96 air grabber" deals from Demon to go. Changed it up a bit. Could not find a 3" x 16" cotton filter. Anywhere. Walked in the local, shithole Advance Auto, who never has nothing I need, and one was on the shelf

I am reinstalling my engine today with 1 7/8 TTI headers . Manual steering and brakes. Pretty easy install .
Of course I install engines from the bottom ....

Could you please give me the number of your 1 7/8 TTI headers? I have a set of the step headers, but I've switched to TF heads and intake, and I haven't found the PN for a small block with no PS and no power brakes. Thank You.

here are pictures with a manual box. I never installed them on a car with power steering. Pretty easy to install with K-member dropped.

If you’re talking about the sector support shaft that bolts to the K frame for the steering box, the 1 5/8

headers are nowhere near that area. I doubt the 1 7/8 headers drop down below the K frame either.

I don’t know why the 1 5/8 inch headers wouldn’t bolt up. Here is the trick flow heads with the TTI 340 headers (1-5/8 x 1-3/4 step). They bolted up fine, though I don’t know if there’s a difference in flow. I changed directions a little bit during my build, but I wasn’t going to go buy different headers.
I confess though, I’m still only mocking up, I haven’t put every single bolt in the headers. Your comment might cause me to look into that.

One thing I did notice is all headers made today including these fit better when using 1973 and newer center link, Pitman and Idler arm. The castle nuts and studs face away from the header and are less likely to do damage.
I noticed this after installing the same headers on the different years. Probably why owners of Older a-bodies are always looking to upgrade. Did any of you ever encounter your pitman or idler rubbing the exhaust on pre 73 cars?

I put the TTI step small block headers on my 360 in a 67 barracuda The issues i had/ have is i had to modify the Z bar for the 4spd and the mini starter is all but touching the one tub. It has power steering. I would be willing to trade for a pair of Schumacher small block shorties. Every thing is just to close for me.

The Z-bar mod was flipping the lower lever , pretty easy. This car we bought the whole 3 inch exhaust. It fit with no rattles or rubs.
We did the motor and front clip for a customer. He was very happy with the exhaust

Thanks for all the pics. Very helpful. Especially the one with the FF sector shaft support installed. I was considering getting the headers bare and having them coated after I checked all clearances. Anyone had to make minor modifications? Have some of you found the dimensions they want you to check prior to install to be off?

I have tti step headers on my trick flows, 1 5/8" to 1 3/4", they fit fine. You may have to play with your engine mount bolts , do you know that you can move your engine up a d down almost 1/2"? Most parts anymore don't just bolt on. You will probably have to have a mini starter, if you don't already have one.

Yes sir. 1970 small block Dart. One of the tie rod sleeve nuts hit one of the tubes of my 1 7/8" Tubular Technologies pipes. Cut a hole in the pipe. I was able to reorient them just enough to stop the rubbing and use JB Weld to seal the hole.

Won't gravity eventually work the cross bolts to the bottom of the slots in the Kframe if you raise the engine up?

I will take a look, I ran into this issue after installing Gerst front suspension. The pan was trying to rest on the rack and pinion. I had to do 2 things, get offset washers for the rack and pinion mounts and after loosening the the 6 engine mount bolts, lift engine and retighten bolts. Like I said, will take a look but am pretty sure that they held. This new suspension and new k- member, lowered my engine some. Which affected several things, shroud to fan clearance the clutch linkage z-bar and z-bar to header, clutch fork adjustment rod..

Just checked my pan / rack and pinion clearance. For the most part, yes it held, it is barely touching on the driver's side.
