Some think they're ugly, but I love them. All the 62-65 B bodies for that matter.

A friend who summers in North Carolina and winters here in Tallahassee sent me these pix of a 62 Plymouth Fury 2dr hardtop that won best in show at a nearby Mopar show last weekend. It's red, and has the optional 361 4-barrel big block, 305 hp. All stock. Just had to share.

Edit: OK, not quite all stock. Just noticed the dual master cylinder. I think the booster's a later model, too.

My brother bought one from his high school teacher. She bought it new, sold it to him around 1966.
White,black convertible top,red interior,power windows, 361 auto with dealer installed 2x4's.
Always wanted a 62 Savoy Slant 6 auto.Maybe someday, but most have been made into V8's or Maxie's by now.

Many years ago, I traded a 68 Z28 302 engine, for a max, carbs to pan, straight across. Then I needed something to put it in. A friend referred me to GTX John, and I bought the 62 from him, less motor. It was a /6 car. I'm told, the lightest b-body ever made.

The '62 cars have always been tough to find. They did not make that many as sales were not good. Even back when new people either loved it or hated it.
That 62 Dart moor door I mentioned above and the 64 Savoy I have now were both slants, 3 on tree. To find anyone that wants one with the slant would be like 1 in 10,000. Still would be cool. But the early B bodies scream "give me a big block!!"
Back about 2002 maybe, a friend told me about a 68 GTX that the owner moved to St. Joe Mo from Ca. He was a mechanic and built the car with a MW top end, and it had actually had an article written on it in CarCraft or something. Nice car. It ran out NICE! I pulled the MW stuff, sold that stuff and put it back stock. After a while it went to Ks. Super nice car, silver with red/maroon interior.
Wish I had those MW parts now!!!

I had a 63 Dodge 330 wagon I got from the woman who bought it new (got it from her estate sale) & only had 40,000 miles on it. I also had a 62 Plymouth Savoy 4dr, CHEEP, that was almost all original too, in nice shape. I drove that car a lot. I like the 62-65 B-bodies, all of them. I will surely get another if the chance come along & I can swing it financially.

My Dad's first (and just about only) new car was a 62 Dodge Polara 500 convertible. 361 4 barrel and (we found out much later) 2.76 gears. Put a 440 in it in 1968; would run out to over 110 in second gear and who knows in high. With the standard soft suspension and no sway bar, it got pretty scary at those speeds.

I kept it immaculate until I left for college, went slowly down hill after that. My brother inherited it in 1984. I consoled myself with a 64 Polara convertible I bought ten years later, factory 383 car (now with 440 crank). Had it almost 30 years now.

I like them. I was a teenager when they were new, and I remember that '62s with the 361 V8 were quite fast. Also, '62 was the year that Chrysler combined the factory service manual for Plymouth and Valiant in order to save money.

I wrenched on this one years ago.
Max Wedge came out of Ohio.
We built a stout 440 with the Max stuff and it went low 10's on the last pass.
He parked and sold it a few years later.

Just heard - indirectly - from the owner that the radiator's a 68. I didn't notice that. Hope I'm not giving away all his secrets. It's a wonderful example of the breed, and he's taking great care of it.
