My Dart is painted with a base clear paint from Napa, Tec base line. Have been told it's Sherwin Williams. I have an area I need to repair, Road damage chips, ect. I have the base color, but need the hardener. Are these specific to different brands of paint or universal ? The nearest Sherwin Williams store is over 100 miles. Thanks in advance

You will want to put some clear over the base that you dab up. Reason being is the base will be flat and appear a totally different color. You can go online or to a parts store and get little bottles with a brush in them that do not require you to be a jr chemist. Simply apply it like nail polish over the base color. The pictures below illustrate what I mean...granted one is in the sun but you can see the difference.

Mix some clear and harder with the base so it is a good repair. Add reducer as needed so it goes on how you like.

touching up with base only has no protection and will not be a lasting repair.
